It is tempting during the winter to take long hot showers or baths, but being in the water for a long time, especially hot water, can be extremely drying for the skin. The trick is to keep it short and use warm, not hot water.

Be sure to pat yourself dry, be it face or body, as vivid rubbing with a dry towel may lead to irritation of the skin badly. At the same time, avoid strong soaps. Strong soaps and detergents can strip oil from your skin that is very harmful for your skin. Instead, choose mild cleansers.
