Getting rid of unwanted body hair is an ongoing point of worry for most woman and it boils down to this: wax or shave?
This debate has been going on for a long time already.
Waxing usually is somewhat painful while shaving on the other hand is very risky but not at all painful.
There are different kinds of wax specifically made for certain areas of the body.
Hot wax is primarily used for smaller areas (underarms, bikini and facial) and for hairs that are course and harder to remove.
Strip wax is used on larger areas of the body (legs, arms, chest and back) as it is less time-consuming and easier. The hairs on these parts of the body are generally less course and much easier to remove.
Why is waxing better than Shaving?
1. Removes dead skin cells.
When the wax is dropped from the skin, it not only removes the hairs from that area, all the dead cells in that area are removed too, this offers a 2-in-1 treatment.
2. The results are long-lasting.
When you shave, you only chop off the part of the hair that lies on the surface of the skin. When you wax, the entire hair up to the root. The time-line for a new hair to grow is around 3-6 weeks, it is varied for every person.
3. Skin is smoother
Hair is constantly growing, and as mentioned in point 2, when you shave, you only cut off the hair on the surface of the skin, as a day or 2 passes, the hair left under the skin surfaces, leaving the area slowly stubbly. When you wax however, the hairs are completely removed and growth only happens in a few weeks, leaving the skin smooth with no stubble.
Shaving can be very time-consuming, every other day we find ourselves having to shave those areas once again, and sometimes may not even find the time to shave because we are leading such busy and bustling lives. Having a wax done may take an hour or two out of your day yes, but that's once every 3-6 weeks! Think about not having to worry about whether you need to shave or not for a couple of weeks.
We definitely recommend you set out a time once a month to wax, it really will benefit you in the long run!
